- Upcoming event - Dr. Shearom Chung has won 1st place at the International Strings and Piano Competition and has been given the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, New York, on March 17, 2013 at the American Protege Winner's Recital.
Introduction
I have been giving private violin/viola
lessons under the Suzuki standard over 15 years and have a passion
for helping others achieve their musical ambitions.
In addition to my relevant teaching
experience, I have performed in a vast number of chamber and
orchestra settings so I am able to utilize my industry insight to
broaden my student's perspectives of musical instruments.
I hold a
Doctorate of Musical Arts specializing in performance from the
Catholic University in Washington DC and have aspirations to start a
professional career in teaching.

DR. SHEAROM CHUNG(Biography)
Dr. Shearom Chung is a talented violist/violinist, recently winning 1st place in the 2013 American International Strings Competition at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She also won 1st place in the String Division of the Baltimore Music Club Competition in 2006, followed by winning overall in the Catholic University of America Concerto Competition in 2007.
Dr. Chung finished her DMA degree at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC under a full scholarship and was the principle player for the CUA orchestra. She received her MM and Graduate Performance through a partial scholarship at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Shea also received her Bachelor through a scholarship at the Korean National University of Art and studied at Sun-Wha Art High School.
She completed the National Orchestral Institute program as principle player under a full scholarship in 2007 and 2008. She participated in the Aspen Music Festival with a scholarship in 2006. In 2005, she played at the Domain Forget Music Festival in Quebec.
Dr. Chung has a broad range of professional experience, playing in a variety of professional orchestras such as the National Philharmonic Orchestra in MD, Alexandria Symphony Orchestra in VA, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra in VA, Cascade Orchestra in Oregon, and Mid-Atlantic Orchestra just to name a few. She was the principle violist and manager of the Bel Cantanti Opera's Orchestra, also invited from Lancaster Symphony Orchestra in 2016 and Pennsylvania Philharmonic Orchestra 2016-2017 as principle violist. She was also an active member of the Friday Morning Music Club as a solo and chamber player and member of MTNA.
She is currently active many areas in the Orchestra, Chamber, Solo, and Teaching. She is the founder of the Dr. Shearom Chung’s music school and the Amaris Trio.
